a small derelict plot at the end of a mews, near a very busy road in haringey needed to be developed for housing. the u-shaped design is developed to incorporate the flats and still leave enough space for landscaping. the floor area and programme is loosely based on the social housing criteria. as the legs are very close to each other, a strategy to position the openings in the facade has been developed to ensure privacy of the occupants without compromise and at the same time to bring in the south sun into the flats. this is the key issue of the project.
